Below are the current player-character ships in Exodus. You can view the crew manifests and openings for all ships here.
Captain: Liara Shepard
Captain’s Policies: Due to how it looks, when the crew is asked they often say they are part of a diplomat's traveling cruiser. However they often just say that so they can get great spots at ports. Though there are often rumors abound of its adventurous travels. Liara's pretty relaxed about the company they keep on board but there aren't usually any criminals or anything of the sort onboard unless they've decided to take them to the authorities.
What the Ship was Originally Designed for: The ship looks like it was made for ambassadors or diplomats to travel from planet to planet. However, it only looks like that on the outside, inside it is clearly a ship used for adventuring.
What It’s Used for Now: It's mainly used to adventure from planet to planet. It was already designed as such just in case Liara ever decided to follow her adventuring desires. Ever since Earthfall, she's been a bit more generous in letting people stay and ferry them to places they want to stay, but it still hasn't stopped her from using it to explore.
General Stats: The ship was made for speed. Its probably one of the fastest ships out there. As a consequence though the weapons aren't as powerful, but there are more of them to make up for the relatively weak power of just one weapon by itself. Its also quite durable but not that much better than any other ship. However, there are still things about the ship that even the captain or any of the crew know about.
Condition: The ship was given to Liara just after it was made in pristine condition. And it stayed that way as she just used it for diplomatic duties. However, as she started adventuring it started to take some wear and tear but for the most part its in the same condition as it was when she first got it.
Ideal Population Limit: 100
Current Population: 75
Relevant/Interesting History: The ship was designed by Liara's father and he didn't tell her everything about the ship he designed. As a result there's quite possibly many things waiting to be discovered about The Destiny. The only other majorly important thing that happened to it was when it was attacked by Pirates, which Liara manged to drive off their ship and gave her the respect from her crew that she now has.
Captain: Gregoire Morris
Captain’s Policies: For appearances, the Laika is paraded around as a poor merchant ship. If asked about by most people, that's usually the description given. The Captain has been known to horde strange things--novelties and artifacts that he picks up from the various planets that the ship visits. The Laika also has a nasty reputation among merchants, and most of them would be more than happy to have the ship destroyed or the captain captured. As for hiring crew, most hard-working men or women are accepted, provided they know what they're getting into. As long as they follow the Captain's orders, a spotty past isn't considered.
What the Ship was Originally Designed for: Formerly a merchant ship, originally outfitted to transport materials off planet. Because of this, there is a large amount of cargo space. Some of the free space is used as impromptu sleeping quarters—this way, more people can fit and live on the ship than was originally intended. Since being under Greg's command, the ship has been modified many times to be a lot more dangerous than just a normal merchant ship, holding much more firepower and fight than is immediately obvious (including some disabling technology).
What It’s Used for Now: While its Captain is known to have taken on legal jobs now and again, the ship is (and has been) used to lure unsuspecting merchant ships into letting the crew aboard so they can steal its cargo. Once the cargo has been taken, it's usually sold wherever he can find a buyer. When Earthfall happened, being involved in this business became more profitable--people panicked become people easy to trick. At the same time, if the situation calls for it, the Captain has no qualms with taking people on board who need refuge from what's happening, provided that they are exchangeable for some money. This type of business takes the ship all around space, to different planets (whether outer, mid, or inner-ring) and cities.
General Stats: While not built for speed, the ship is able to get around easily. It was designed to be durable, and straightforward to handle (and pilot). The model was designed for long trips across space with limited loads, and is so it's smaller than some of the larger models. It has also been modified to be more maneuverable than a normal merchant ship. The ship can withstand some major damage, but does its best when fleeing from other, heavier ships.
Condition: The ship was in pristine condition when it was first acquired by its captain, hot off the conveyor belt. After many run-ins with other ships, it has got what Greg likes to call “love-wear”—some rips and tears but nothing serious that hasn’t been repaired. Much of the basic functions in the ship have been left alone, although some of it has been repeatedly modified and worked on. While not dirty or decrepit, it has a very lived-in feel. Most of the ship works great, but the artificial gravity has a tendency to give out at inappropriate times. On the outside, the ship has a much sorrier appearance than is true, which helps in luring prey ships closer.
Relevant/Interesting History: The Laika was originally intended to be a merchant ship, sold by Greg's old company. After some suspicious dealings, the company (and ship models) landed in the hands of a wealthy-but-corrupt government official. Then, as a means to escape off the planet, the ship was stolen and escaped into space almost unharmed. The next few years were spent running from the Phaestus planetary government. While the ship has spent some of its life doing legitimate business, it has mostly been used as a pirate ship.

Current Population: 32
