It took a while, but Agari had finally gotten up the courage to go see the captain. He had put it off long enough. Being able to make plants grow did not seem like something he should keep from her. Agari was going to let Asher decide for himself wether or not to tell the captain about his extrodinary eyesight, but Agari had committed himself to telling the captain about his own... peculiarity.
Now he was standing outside the captain's quarters, trying to build up enough courage to knock. He didn't even know if she was in there or not, or even if he was supposed to be in this part of the ship. But he was here now and he wasn't going to leave without speaking to the captain. Well, maybe if someone ordered him too...
Agari shook that thought from his head. It was counter productive. Raising up one of his fists, he rapped on the door, then stepped back shyly and waited.

Liara awoke, startled. She had laid down for only a moment, wanting to get some rest. However, she had the weirdest dream. It was nothing but a bunch of brief images and sounds. She could barely make any of them out and none made any sense. Though she remembered hearing knocking for some strange reason......
That's when she heard someone knocking on her door. She jumped a bit. She was glad no one was around to see that. How odd she had just dreamed hearing that exact noise......and here she was hearing it again. She shook her head at the thought. You just had the strangest dream you've ever had and its throwing you off. Shake it off and answer the door. she told herself.
She got up and opened the door. It was that scientist.......Agari was his name she believed. "Hello. Is there a problem?" she asked him. It wasn't often she was bothered for anything else, so her mind immediately expected some problem or another.

"Well, um, no. Not exactly." Agari had no idea how to go about saying what he needed to say. It wasn't every day that you had to confess to your ship's captain that you have some sort of super power-like ability. What was the protocol for that anyway. "It's not really a problem, but it is important." Agari didn't know if he should just blurt it out in the hallway, but he was too nervous about asking if he could come in.
"Um..." Agari could feel his cheeks turning red. "The thing is... Well, I discovered something about myself recently. Something unique. I haven't been able to come up with any scientific explanation for it either."
He took a deep breath and decided to just spill it. He would just have to take the risk of sounding crazy. He leaned in close and said in barely a whisper, "I think I have super powers."

Liara stared at him not really sure what to expect. He said it wasn't a problem. But it was important. So what exactly did that mean? And why did that warrant asking her about this...issue he wanted to bring to her attention? Well she was about to find out soon.
He seemed to be a bit nervous. She didn't really blame him. Those science types never really came up to her too often, so they always seemed like that whenever she saw them around. Granted most people acted nervous around her, since she was the captain but she was used to it by now. She raised an eyebrow as he continued on saying he discovered something about himself he couldn't explain. Now what the hell was that supposed to mean?
He then leaned in a bit closer. She didn't really like when people did that, but he let him do it since she probably wouldn't have heard her anyway. Though she couldn't help but stare at him with his next words. He said he thought he had super powers.
There were a few moments of silence before she spoke. "....Do I need to send you to the medical bay?"

Agari's cheeks instantly grew even more red than before. He knew she wouldn't believe him. Heck, he wouldn't have believed himself. Her reaction was understandable and expected. Even so, it still managed to throw Agari off his game a little.
"What, no. It's true," he said almost automatically. "I'm not crazy. I can show you!" Agari reached into his lab coat pocket and pulled out a whole pear he got from the cafeteria, then held it up as if it proved his point. "I can make the seeds in this pear sprout! Just give me five minutes and you'll see."
Then Agari suddenly looked down out of embarrassment. "Um, do you happen to have a knife or something I could borrow?" He had somehow forgotten that he would need to get the seeds out of the pear first.

It looked like Liara had managed to embarrass the poor scientist more than he had seemed to be before. But honestly, super powers? Sure they were in space and humans had now seen some crazy things but super powers were still a work of fiction. In her head anyway. It seemed a bit too crazy to be real.
Though Agari insisted he wasn't crazy and said he could show her. Now she was somewhat interested. If he proved it, maybe she wouldn't have to send him to the medical bay. He then took out a pear. She stared a bit in disbelief. What was he gonna do with a pear?
He then proceeded to explain that he could make the pear's seeds sprout. It was also then where he asked for a knife. She thought it over a bit and took the knife that she kept on her at all times just in case. She flipped it and handed him the handle. "You got three minutes," he told her.

Agari didn't waste any time and grabbed the knife from the captain. He still wasn't very good at this, so he might actually need the full three minutes. Quickly but carefully Agari sliced the pear lengthwise, exposing seed one seed on each half. He put one pear half back into his pocket and held the other up in front of his face, the exposed surface laying upward. "Alright, just bear with me."
Agari stared at the fruit seed that was resting at eye level. He did his best to stay calm and breath slowly, but was having trouble since someone was watching him. However, he was determined not to mess up.
A minute ticked by. Nothing happened. Another. Agari could sense that the seed was stirring, on the inside, but nothing was happening on the outside yet. Just when he figured his time was up, the seed cracked open and a small root popped out.
"See, see! I'm not crazy!" Agari suddenly realized that he probably still sounded crazy, even if he wasn't. "Sorry. I got a little over excited. But it worked!"

Liara watched as Agari grabbed the knife from her and sliced the pear in half. He then put one half away and held out the other so they both could see the exposed seed. She was still a bit in disbelief but he seemed determined to prove it to her so she waited patiently for something to happen.
A minute passed. Then another. She was about to send this guy on his way to the medical bay, when suddenly a root popped out of the seed. She was expecting something a bit more dramatic, but still it seemed like he had made the seed sprout. She motioned for him to give her back her knife as she thought about this.
"Hmm....." she said as she thought about it. "Anyone else you know claiming super powers like this?" she asked him.

Agari was a bit surprised that Liara wasn't as excited about this as he was, but he wasn't about to question her. At least she didn't send him to the brig or something like that. But her next question caught him off guard again. Did he know of anyone else with abilities? Well there was Asher...
"This one guy named Asher says he has really good eyesight... Like, beyond 20/20 vision." So much for letting Asher decide wether or not to tell the captain about it. Oh well. It was probably for the best anyway.
"I asked a couple other people too, but they just kind of ignored me. So, I guess that's it as far as I know. Have you heard of anyone else who could do stuff like this?"

Liara nodded as he told her about someone else who said they were feeling like they had a super power. Apparently someone on her ship was getting better eyesight. Though that's all Agari spoke of. No one else apparently had shared if they were gaining powers or not.
She wondered if this meant there were more people on board experiencing something like this. Was she experiencing something like this? She had been having those weird dreams........maybe this explained them. Or maybe she was jumping to conclusions. What kind of super power involved strange dreams anyway?
"You're the first to bring this to my attention," she told him. She still looked like she was thinking hard about something. Though she wasn't sure if it was right to be blaming the cause of her dreams as being this.

So she didn't know anything about people getting strange powers? He couldn't say he was exactly surprised, but Agari kind of hoped there was some sort of explanation. He waited a few moments for the captain to continue and say something else, but then decided to just press the matter himself.
"So what do we do? I mean, obviously this isn't natural. As far as I know, any reports in the past about people having 'abilities' have always turned out to be a hoax. Is there some sort of specialist to go see for this type of thing?" Agari was thoroughly perplexed. "I haven't been able to come up with any answers in the lab, but then again, I'm no expert either."

Liara thought about this for a moment. What should they do? She didn't want to really start everyone thinking they're all gonna become super heroes now. But it wasn't like she couldn't ignore it either. So what should she do about it?
"Send anyone else you find out has powers to me," he told him finally. "Otherwise stay quiet about it. You can go ahead and test out and maybe find a cause for this but be subtle about it. I don't want everyone to start thinking they might be able to breath in space or something," She thought more about this. Did this mean she might have some power now too? She wasn't sure if she liked that idea or not.

"Alright, I guess I can do that." Agari felt much more relieved now that the captain knew his semi-secret. It was probably wise not to spread knowledge of his abilities around anyway. Imagine the crowds he would attract! Okay, so maybe his abilities weren't that exciting to see according to most people, but in Agari's eyes it was amazing. He would just have to go find Asher now...
"I suppose I'll go back to my lab station then. Get this pear into some dirt or something." He lifted up the fruit slice to emphasize his point. "Maybe I'll practice a bit more, too. Try and get better at growing things." Agari could feel his cheeks getting red once more as he prepared to say his next sentence.
"And thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt captain. You're the greatest." Then he turned to leave.

"Yes... you go ahead and do that," Liara said still thinking about her recent dreams. Was that her power? But what was it exactly? She tried to think of any other weird things that had happened lately. But she couldn't think of anything. It then occurred to her that maybe Agari noticed something.
She gave a loud whistle to get his attention before he left. "Hold on, two more things," she told him. She pointed to her knife again. "First, you still need to give me my knife back." She then paused for a minute wondering if it was really worth it to ask him. Well it was probably better to just ask already since he was already here.
"Second, have you noticed anything odd about me?" she asked. "Anything that might be seen as too weird to be coincidental?"
((feel free to make up anything she could have accidentally predicted would happen. As long as they're small things.))

Agari spun around on his heel, not knowing what to expect after Liara's whistle. "Your knife?" Agari hadn't even realized that he still had it. He must have slid it into his pocket with the other pear half on accident. He pulled it back out and handed it to the captain, handle first. "Sorry."
The second thing she said was a bit harder to respond to. "Anything... weird?" He had to think a while on that one. "Not that I know of. I haven't seen you around much though... I guess the only thing that I can think of that was a little odd was how when I first met you, you seemed to know my name right before I told it to you. Does that count?"
