Fire & Heat Manipulation The ability to control the kinetic energy of atoms to generate, control or absorb fire Taken By: Sanaa
Manifestation: Fires seem to almost start themselves whenever you try to light them. You also have a higher tolerance to heat.
Newly Powered: You can start small fires in your hands or on a combustible surface, and you are immune to boiling temperatures. You can even control small flames with great concentration.
Apprentice: Your entire body can now be on fire without you getting burned. Your clothes, however, do get affected. Smoke inhalation is just like regular air to you now. You have greater control over flames, but it still takes a significant amount of concentration.
Professional: Your clothes no longer burn when you set yourself on fire, as long as you pay attention. You can now direct flames to do things they normally wouldn't, and reach temperatures hot enough to melt weak metals.
Expert: You can now choose what a fire does and doesn't burn, but things sensitive to low flame temperatures may still melt or boil when the flames are near. You have quite a bit of accuracy directing flames.
Master: You are immune to even the hottest heat and flames move according to your will. You can even make other people and things fire proof along with you if you focus enough. You can transform your entire body into living flame.
Forcefield Generation The ability to project powerful fields of manipulated energy to form shields. Available
Manifestation: During times of high stress, small things seem to bounce off you without even touching you. You have no control over it, however.
Newly Powered: Medium-sized objects can now sometimes be deflected (although it doesn't always work), however it takes a good amount of concentration. The forcefield can now be controlled in short bursts, and any lack concentration will make it disappear. Fast-moving objects (such as a ball thrown or bat swung at the person) will break through. Things like rain or fire still seep through.
Apprentice: The forcefield can now be spread to encompass you and one other person. Fast-moving objects slow down and, with enough concentration, can be stopped.
Professional: You have more endurance now, and the forcefield can shield a room-sized area. Swords and other weapons like it cannot pass through without immense effort from the person attacking.
Expert: The forcefield can be held up for long periods of time (although this wears you out quickly). Bullets and other (and deadly) projectiles bounce right off without effort. The forcefield can also protect fully against the elements.
Master: With some exertion, the forcefield can cover VERY large areas (think country-sized). It can protect against anything that's thrown at it--bullets, nuclear missiles, etc. You can now decide whether to let people in or out of the shield (i.e., you can trap someone inside it). However, the larger/longer the shield, the more it drains you.
Limitations: The drawback is that the larger the area and longer the length of time, the more it will wear you out. Pushing yourself past your limit (for example, holding an extremely large forcefield for a long time) can push you to near death (if not kill you outright).
Hue Adjustment The ability to change the colors that things are viewed as. Taken By: Bartleby
Manifestation: You are able to notice subtle color changes and are even able to make things lighter or darker, but their color stays relatively the same. (i.e. a red apple becomes a dark red apple or a light red apple)
Newly Powered: You can slowly make thing change from one shade to another. With enough time you can get something to become its opposite color (i.e. a red apple becomes a green apple).
Apprentice: You can make finer distinctions in color changes. Things can now become multiple colors and large letters can even be 'written' with color changes. (i.e. a red apple could become a green apple with large purple letters on it).
Professional: You can now do very fine distinctions with different colors and color changes happen very quickly. You can also make things look shinier or duller than they were normally. (i.e.. a red apple becomes a plaid apple with small silvery lettering).
Expert: Extreme detail can be used to create detailed textures. You can make things nearly invisible due to camouflage. However, only the color has changed, not the opacity.
Master: You are the master of all colors. You can even change the color of the air around you (although it will still blow around just as easily). You can change the colors of things as easily as you can change your mind.
Limitations: Just because something looks different doesn't mean it is different. An apple that has had it's color changed so that it looks like it is made of solid gold has changed in appearance only. Things can become more opaque than the original, but not more transparent. Also, color changes are permanent until you reverse the effect. The original color can always be achieved.
Inorganic Transformation The ability to transform completely into an inorganic substance while retaining organic properties. Available
Manifestation: Newly Powered: Apprentice: Professional: Expert: Master:
Invisibility The ability to render oneself unseen to the naked eye. Available
Manifestation: You may subconsciously “fade” when experiencing intense emotion. You become slightly transparent.
Newly Powered: You can begin to control your “fading,” but cannot achieve full transparency.
Apprentice: Professional: Expert:
Master: You can achieve complete transparency at will, possibly indefinitely. You can also make invisible any object you are in contact with, as long as you stay in contact with it. This object can be a person.
Limitations: Invisibility at no point equates with being incorporeal. You will still have to go through doors, and will leave tracks the same as a visible person.
Invulnerability The ability to become immune to one or more forms of physical damage. Available
Manifestation: You are less likely to draw blood from scratches, scrapes, or minor blunt trauma. You are half as likely to bruise as regular individuals suffering the same injury.
Newly Powered: You have less penetrable skin: about the durability of soft leather. You have a greater resistance to breaking bones.
Apprentice: The force necessary to break your skin is about equivalent to piercing denim or rough leather. Although you do not have supernaturally increased strength, your joints and ligaments are reinforced, and more absorbent of shock or strain.
Professional: Expert:
Master: You are as impermeable as steel at a passive state. When concentrating, you can make yourself tougher than a diamond. This heightened state of invulnerability makes you completely resistant to all physical damage, including burn damage, acid damage, etc. It can be maintained for as long as the wielder can mentally focus on it: which generally means that the more damage they take, the harder it is to keep up the invulnerability.
Limitations: Even at the height of their power, you are immune only to physical damage. You have no inherent barriers to mental attacks, and must still be able to breathe.
Kinetic Absorption The ability to absorb forms of kinetic energy into oneself and convert it into potential energy. Available
Manifestation: Blunt physical objects colliding with the you (from thrown baseballs to punches and kicks) don’t seem to do as much damage. Shortly after being struck, the you will feel a short burst of increased physical power.
Newly Powered: You are capable of transferring more of the kinetic ability from blunt physical blows into potential energy. Light to moderate blows (a weak punch, for example) can be absorbed if the iyou are prepared for it. You will have a short-lived energy build up, allowing you to add the energy absorbed to a physical action: a return punch, throwing something, a jump, etc.
Apprentice: Professional: Expert:
Master: Very high levels of energy can be absorbed, and converted three-fold into potential energy. This energy can be stored latently, but it will start deteriorating the longer it is stored—taking about a day to completely dissipate.
Limitations: Though you can take quite a bit of blunt force, anything piercing is likely to leave you about as dead as a regular person. Bullets have a ton of kinetic energy, for example, but you’re not going to catch one. That said, you cannot absorb energy from something if you aren’t concentrating on doing just that. You are as vulnerable to sneak attacks and sucker punches as anyone else.
Light Manipulation The ability to control, generate or absorb light particles. Taken By: Luce
Manifestation: When under stress or feeling strong emotions, you may begin to emit a soft “glow.” Strong lights don’t seem to bother you as much as other individuals.
Newly Powered: You work sort of like a glow-in-the-dark substance: the more strong light you are exposed to, the more you can “retain” the light, to emit at later times. You can generate light about as bright as a fluorescent lamp, though it will be dimmer if you haven’t “charged.”
Apprentice: Professional: Expert:
Master: You can become as bright as a small star, but only for the briefest of moments, and it requires the exertion of all your energy. You can generate very strong light even when not properly “charged.” You can direct light as beams, or “throw” it like a fireball.

Liquification The ability to turn partially or completely into a liquid. Available
Manifestation: Your body can sag, as if made of thick dough.
Newly Powered: You can become a puddle of liquid with the consistency of molasses.
Apprentice: You can become a puddle of liquid with the consistency of water. You can move along the ground, but can't resist gravity.
Professional: You can change into liquid, clothes included. You can now resist the pull of gravity and pull yourself upward while remaining liquid.
Expert: You can form simple shapes while remaining liquid.
Master: Your entire body, including clothes, can become entirely liquid and change into complex shapes, even against the forces of gravity.
Limitations: You can regroup as long as about two-thirds of you are "connected" in one puddle.
Magnetism Manipulation The ability to generate and control magnetic fields. Available
Manifestation: Sometimes small metal objects that you are holding (like a pen or paper clip) will stick to your hand temporarily, even after you’ve released them.
Newly Powered: Every once in a while when you reach for a small metal item, it will suddenly jump several inches towards or away from you. Computer monitors and small electronic devices that are within a few feet of you tend to discolor, glitch, or just stop working when you’re going through a strong emotion. You also tend to know what type of metal something is.
Apprentice: You can now attract or repel small items within a few yards, but only when you’re concentrating on them. It takes a lot of energy to lift a small metal object for a minute. It is possible for you to slightly move a medium sized object, like tipping a chair a bit.
Professional: You can now levitate larger metal objects, like a chair or a table, but it takes a lot of energy. Small objects can be levitated with ease, draining you like taking a walk. Attracting and repelling small objects can be done with a few thoughts, and you can also disarm small metal weapons. You can also begin bending weaker metals, like aluminum or tin, but it drains you pretty fast. You can create weak magnetic fields around something. These fields can attract or repel metal objects within a yard, but they only last for a few minutes.
Expert: Large objects, like desks or fighter ships can be levitated, but not for too long. Small objects can be manipulated in any way possible. Medium objects can be levitated for up to an hour. Weak metals can be ripped apart after some concentration, and tougher metals, like iron can be bent or molded. Bullets can be stopped, but only if you're already focusing on stopping them -- it is nearly impossible to "sense" an oncoming bullet that has already been fired, and stop it in time. Magnetic fields can attract or repel chair-sized objects and can last for half an hour.
Master: No metal can withstand you. You can contort, twist, break, levitate, attract, or repel anything metal that weighs under a ton with ease. The strongest metals like steel and titanium can be bent or broken, but only after a minute or so of hard concentration. Bullets and small metal projectiles can be stopped with ease. Magnetic fields can last for over an hour and can attract or repel large objects.
Limitations: When levitating something, the longer you do it, the greater the drain of energy is. It also drains energy when attempting to bend metal. Also, even at Master levels, if you don’t notice the attacking weapon, you can’t stop it in time. The farther you are from the object your manipulating, the harder it will be to accomplish your task. I.E., you probably won’t be able to lift a fighter when you’re a hundred yards away. Lastly, if something is moving, it will be harder to stop or repel in the opposite direction because you can to overcome inertia and momentum.
Mediumship The ability to see and communicate with the dead. Take by: Leo Clarke
Manifestation: You may have very weird, vague dreams about talking to people who seem somehow very distant. The conversations don’t reveal much though, just casual chatting.
Newly Powered: Your dreams become a little more lucid and you may begin to recognize people you know who have passed on. You can ask them questions, but will get mostly cryptic answers, no answers at all, or answers which are vague at best.
Apprentice: Professional: Expert:
Master: You can summon the dead to speak to you in person, and can wheedle them with questions. Depending on how long you question them, and the importance of their answers, as well as their reluctance to answer, you may be very drained. You do not need to be physically near the body to do this. Other people will be able to witness these manifestations.
Limitations: Only upon exerting extreme mental energy will you be able to coerce a spirit into telling you something it does want to, or showing up somewhere it doesn’t want to. For that matter, some people may not be reachable at all. Please contact a mod if you want to know if your idea will fly.
Mental Projection The ability to project one’s imagination into another’s mind, or into reality. Available
Manifestation: You can call up extremely vivid scenarios in your mind, including all of the five senses, at ease. The longer you focus on the scenario or setting, the easier it is to mentally return to later.
Newly Powered: You are able to project these settings into the minds of those who are sleeping or unconscious, as dreams. You must be fully conscious however, and it is exhausting the longer you maintain the connection. Even while unconscious, the other individual can easily push you out of their mind at will.
Apprentice: With concentration you can make a projected object appear out of thin air. However it must be small between the size of a pen or small vase. It is easier for you to project images into people’s dreams and they can only push you out if they are capable of lucid dreaming or are aware of you controlling the dream.
Professional: You can now make objects appear that are as big as a table or large crate. You can also project images onto flat surfaces, such as a wall much like a movie. If you want you can even make it appear as if the wall is not even there. However both of these take concentration and effort. If interrupted the image will shudder or disappear. You can now manipulate another person’s dreams completely.
Expert: If you are in a room you can fill the whole space with an illusion. The larger the room is the more difficult it is to sustain the illusion. Objects, even large ones are much easier to make appear and stay for long periods of time, such as an hour or more.
Master: You can maintain such incredible illusions that it would be difficult for anyone to see through them. These illusions cannot directly harm anyone, though they might obscure something that would cause them harm (cover a hole, etc). You can manifest them around you so powerfully that even resistant, fully conscious people in a wide radius will be effected. You can host intensely detailed scenery without much mental exertion if you frequently mentally visit the setting.
Limitations: Projecting illusions of other individuals, creatures, or anything animated will cause you to become tired related to the amount of mental discipline needed to maintain the image—a mouse would be less difficult, say, than a ferocious fire-breathing alien.
Midas' Touch Things you touch can be transformed at the subatomic level to be turned into the chosen substance. (When you select this power, you choose a type of material. Only one. But it could be anything from gold to glass to wood.) Available
Manifestation Level: You may find that you have a natural affinity to your chosen material. Your fingerprints may even leave behind traces of the material.
Newly Powered Level: If you concentrate, you can turn small objects into the material of your choice. (small = paper clips, pens, shoes, etc.)
Apprentice Level: Small objects are easy to change. You can now change medium objects as well. (medium = folding chairs, bicycles, the kitchen sink, etc.)
Professional Level: Medium objects can be changed easily. Large objects can be achieved as well. (large = refrigerators, small cars, salad bars, etc)
Expert Level: Large objects can be changed pretty easily. Huge objects can be changed as well. (huge = armored tanks, small spacecraft, cottages)
Master Level: You can change almost any object with ease. From thumb tacks, to houses, to spaceships. If you concentrate, you can even have your ability spread out from your point of contact and change multiple objects around you.
Limitations: Changes are permanent. You can not change sentient people, but plants and animals are okay. When you change an object, it takes on the properties of your chosen material. This means that if you do something like turn a support column into cheddar cheese, prepare to have the ceiling fall down on you.
Omnilinguism The ability to understand any form of language. Available
Manifestation: You are able to pick up new languages quickly compared to other humans. For example, if you were to read an English to French dictionary, you would not forget what most of the words meant. You would remember the words, but not necessarily cultural meanings behind them.
Newly Powered: After spending only a few days with a speaker of a different language, you can become a proficient speaker of that language.
Apprentice: You can spend only a few hours around a speaker of an unknown language and pick up on what they are saying. Professional: You can decipher new languages even without any reference to what it's meaning is. The larger the sample of the language, the faster the process is.
Expert: You can pick up new languages even if you only hear them on a subconscious level. An example: you are at a restaurant and the people at another table are speaking a different language and you overhear what they are saying without even trying to.
Master: You can instantly understand an entire language just by hearing or reading a small sample of it.
Plant Manipulation The ability to control, manipulate, or animate forms of plant life. Taken By: Agari
Manifestation: You can affect plants in simple ways, such as ripening fruit or open flower buds. You must be on close proximity of the plant you are affecting (within a few feet).
Newly Powered: You may cause plants (including seeds) to grow within their natural limits. However, the process is slow. It would take about an entire day's worth of effort to grow something like a Christmas tree.
Apprentice: Growth is faster, and plant features can be slightly exaggerated (example: a flower grows larger than it would in nature). A Christmas tree would take about an hour of solid effort. You can begin to understand plants on a subconscious level, knowing when they are thirsty, overheated, etc.
Professional: Plants can be grown in a matter of minutes. Their features can be greatly exaggerated. With a significant amount of effort, plants can now be ungrown as well. Your sense of ecological empathy begins to grow: you can now sense the more nuanced "emotions" of plants.
Expert: Plants can now be grown and ungrown at will. However, you must still have a living plant specimen to begin with. You can hold brief "conversations" with plants.
Master: You may now make once-dead plant material grow into its original form. Plants can also move branches, vines, and the like as if they were muscled appendages. But only at your command. You can ask plants very detailed questions, though their responses will vary depending on the nature of the plant (a long-lived tree will be more conducive than say, a weed).
Poison Generation The ability to assault others with one or more varieties of toxins, with widely disparate effects. Available
Manifestation: You have a high resistance to poisons; your system metabolizes toxins at a higher rate than others.
Newly Powered: You can alter pure water to be slightly poisonous—however you must be able to touch the water. These poisons can have different effects: making another character slightly nauseas, sleepy, or alert, for instance. The effects are not long lasting. You are practically immune to all but the most toxic poisons.
Apprentice: You can alter less than pure water (such as tap or rain water) to become slightly poisonous. When it comes to pure water you can completely control what kind of toxin the water will become. The effects are still mild but much more focused in what they do. You are immune to just about any toxin except a few but even they have to be at high levels and are metabolize within an hour.
Professional: Anything that is mostly water you can turn into a moderately strong toxin. Other liquids you can also turn into a mild toxin. You are also completely immune to all toxins known to man and a few that aren’t.
Expert: Mostly water liquids can now be turned into powerful toxins and poisons. Liquids that are water based but have many other ingredients can also be turned into moderate to strong toxins depending on the effort you put in the transformation.
Master: You can secrete highly potent toxins from your pores, such that you may poison someone just by touching them. These poisons may have many effects, including paralysis, hallucinations, rendering someone unconscious, etc. You may also alter water-based fluids, but you still must touch the fluid for it to work: however, you can affect a much larger pool of liquid in a smaller amount of time.
Power Negation The ability to cancel the superpowers of others. Taken By: Deux
Manifestation: You cannot control or limit your power. Any super powered character within a few yards of you will feel slightly weakened. The less powerful another character, the more they will feel the strain.
Newly Powered: You can begin to control your power, but it takes an active, taxing effort to stop from draining those around you. You can fully negate the power of those who have only bare manifestations of the power (less than “Newly Powered” themselves), but it takes time and focus. If you do not restrict your power you will severely weaken other Newly Powered characters, and moderately weaken Apprentice characters.
Apprentice: The effort to stop from draining others is reduced. When you do use your power, you can begin to limit its scope. This means that instead of a radial range that will affect everyone around you for a certain distance, you may begin to target specific locations in a more conal area: ie, in front of you, to the left, etc. You have to see the area you are targeting. It is easy to negate the power of those just at the “Manifestation” level, and you can completely negate “Newly Powered” individuals with time and concentrated effort. You can severely weaken other Apprentices, and moderately weaken Professionals.
Professional: You can turn your power on and off with ease. Targeting is still conal, though it can be further narrowed. You no longer have to see the area you are targeting for the power to work—you may target through walls, through the thickness of the wall will determine how effective your power is. It is easy to negate the power of those just at the “Manifestation” and “Newly Powered” levels, and you can completely negate “Apprentice” individuals with time and concentrated effort. You can severely weaken other Professionals, and moderately weaken Experts.
Expert: You can limit your targeting to a single person by touch, and if you are in physical contact with your target, the power negation process is much speedier. In this case, other Experts will be quickly drained, though Masters will be able to resist for a while. Without physical contact, you can completely negate “Professional” individuals with time and concentrated effort. You can severely weaken other Experts, and moderately weaken Masters.
Master: Touching someone will still allow the process of negation to be faster, but you easily negate the powers of everyone below “Professional” level. Experts may resist, but not for long, and other Masters will also quickly feel the effects of power negation. You may target individuals without touching them or seeing them, as long as they are within 100 yards. For a 100 yard radius there is no limit to the amount of people you can target, though the more individuals targeted, the longer the negation will take. In addition to acting as a power negation hub, you can also imbue items for a short period of time (maximum 24 hours or so) with your power—maybe objects that drain the powers of those who come into close contact with them. This may range from an extended version which necessitates contact between an individual and the object to work, or power negation “bombs” which detonate power negation for a certain radius, but whose energy is quickly used up (and therefore more quickly recovered from).
Power Replication The ability to borrow the superpowers of others. Available
Manifestation Level You can get a general sense of what abilities a person has just by touching them.
Newly Powered Level You gain the Manifestation Level abilities of the last person you touched.
Apprentice Level You gain the Newly Powered Level abilities of the last person you touched.
Professional Level You gain the Apprentice Level abilities of the last person you touched.
Expert Level You gain the Professional Level abilities of the last person you touched.
Master Level You gain the Expert Level abilities of the last person you touched.
Limitations You can't control which powers you have any more than you can control who you touch. "Touching" consists of skin to skin contact, not skin to clothing. If you touch someone without powers, you don't have any powers either, aside from this one. You may only have one power at a time. People don't lose their powers when you gain them. You may not absorb powers of a higher level than the person touched possesses (even if your level allows it). And remember, just because you have someone's power doesn't mean you know how to use it.
Precognition The ability to percieve the future. Available
Manifestation: You get a slight, tingly feeling when you think something big is about to happen. This might just be a nagging feeling in your gut.
Newly Powered: You sometimes get double vision, which is actually seeing both where people will be in half a second, and where they currently are. You may have very vague dreams about journeys and going places that you’ve never seen.
Apprentice: Professional: Expert:
Master: You can naturally integrate the ability to see up to five seconds in the future without feeling sick or dizzy. Forcibly trying to see further in the future will show an often confusing mess of options, though some may be brighter than others. Your dreams may be heavily laden with barely decipherable instructions.
Limitations: As anyone with this ability will get admin metaplot whispers from time to time, I’m going to be very stringent about who has this power.
