Profession (Current): Astrophysicist/Space Scientist Profession (Past): Robotics Engineer, Customer Service jobs Marital Status: Divorced Home World: Ortho
Religious Beliefs: Ortho Religion/Christian
Socioeconomic Status: Lower Middle Class
Cultural Upbringing: Having been born on Ortho, Artemis was raised in the state teachings, learning that, even if your life seems completely pointless, that you must trudge on. He was raised to believe that too many compliments are a bad thing, and that for negative comments, one must take them and do the very best they can to prove them wrong. His family some time ago immigrated from Earth to Ortho, and so he was also raised in the Christian belief. All of these factors he stills holds with them today, but because of his current scientific standpoint, he often doubts the validity of them in his life and the universe about him.
Physical Description: Tall for a man, and what one might called attractive, Artemis has a pretty rugged look about him. He stands at 6'1'' with a mildly toned body and long limbs, his hip often being where peoples' midarms start. However, upkeep isn't of utmost importance to Artemis, having no desire to head straight back into a relationship, thus, his brown hair is always in a somewhat organized mess. Behind all the untrimmed facial hair is a rather dashing nose and two spots of sparkling hazel. As iff to off set the rest of his face, his ears are somewhat of an awkward shape and seem rather unfit for him at certain angles.
For the rest of his body, he is a lean male with some definition in his chest, abdominal, and arms. He is so due to his work with robotics, putting them together manually even if it could be done by machine. Above his navel exists a rather large birthmark that gives doubt to his handsome appearance. On his left hip resides a tattoo of the ancient astrological sign for Scorpio, an old-Earth constellation of a scorpion that represented a certain fierceness that his mother had reinforced into his thinking. He has another tattoo on his back of an orange circle with a yellow star, with yellow and orange lines underneath in a star shoot pattern.
Personality: Regular Artemis is a laid back kind of guy, not caring too much about what other people think or about his duties. Alone, he tends to contradict his upbringing, prefering to sleep in or play with his cat, Alloy, rather than do any work that he'd consider work. He can get very aggravating, always going around in circles and always testing your theories. He's arrogant and somewhat ignorant, and hates being wrong more than anything. However, Artemis is also very reserved around large groups of people, prefering his own company to the company of others, mostly out of reaction to his divorce.
Scientist Artemis is a complete change. He becomes dedicated, neutral, and unsure about his answers. Maybe it's because he knows science is always right compared to him, and he can't prove his win against this. Dutiful, devout, he works hard and doesn't waste time playing around. Perhaps because of curiousity, he becomes highly inquisitive, always needing to know the answers, the RIGHT answers, the proven answers. This is his purpose in life, he believes, and because it is that, it is him, and he will extend only his best out to it.
Relationship Artemis is yet another side with yet another change. Like his Scientist self, he is devout, but he also becomes loving and doesn't force his answers. He's more willing to be open and enthusiastic, more cheerful and energetic, always willing to please. A complete gentlemen, he tends to clean his appearance up a bit in order to be less of an embarrassment. In his relationship mode, he is always concerned how the female feels above how he might feel, and tends to get too attatched. R. Artemis has yet to show up since his divorce.
History: Life on Ortho was what one might call normal. No rebellions, a constant culture, and a center of bureacracy. Arty lived normally, raised by his parents normally, and went to school normally. There was nothing to suggest even a spark of anything higher in the boy for any reason. He was always on a normal streak, always followed the crowd, and blended in just like anyone else did. Life didn't seem too boring at the time, because Ortho was a place taught that no matter how dull, you push through.
No, no sparks in Arty's existance until the higher science courses. When Artemis hit about 9th grade, he took his first specialized science course, and instead of finding it bleak and bland like most children, Arty was instantly intrigued by the factors. He suddenly became obsessed with the idea of knowing the answer, of finding it. And he would stop at nothing to advance. He took as many science courses as he could, coupled with the higher math levels, absorbing any information he could. It paid off. After Artemis finished post-secondary school at 24, he got hired as an assistant in the Ortho Observatory under a very prestigeous scientist. He couldn't have been more stoked, and proved his worth, and since has stayed.
At the age of 26, Artemis got married to a Mai Navaeh, but the relationship didn't work out too well. Mai was too much of an opposite to Artemis, and the two ended up getting a divorce after two years of marriage. Artemis has yet to see Mai within the last year, but hears that she's doing quite well from time to time, which pleases him and angers him at the same time. However, Artemis was, what he thought, very in love with Mai, and the divorce crushed him. He's refused any relationship status since the last year, trying to heal from the damage done to his psychological self.
RP Sample: Tap, tap, tap. Her bo staff tapped the ground as she used it as a make-shift cane, pushing it down on the ground before her steps, pushing it back up when she took one. The tap was sort of calming, regardless of the echo that it caused in the desolate area, but it was a sound, and any sound of any kind, sans raiders, was welcome to Mai's ears.
The library, and more specifically, the city library, where Mai came every to and fro to come for a book and read for a bit. A science-fiction nerd, she assumed they'd probably never see the day when they'd live on the moon or have shopping malls on Mars, but at least the fiction was still there, the imaginary worlds weren't torn to shreads by the lifeless air.
Last time she'd been here, she met someone, someone who ended up being important to her, and someone who ended up dying in a raiders' march. It caused her great sympathy, and with her remembrance, she placed a hand on her heart and shed a few tears as if letting herself feel guilty for the fact they were dead. Everyone important to her was dead. Her partner, her best friend, her family...oh, how she longed for some sort of company, some sort of reassurance that she wasn't alone. But she pushed the thought aside and tapped over to the fiction section, toward the B's. She'd finished the A's recently, and was seven books into the B section.
Jim Butcher's Dresden series, the second, Fool Moon, was what her hand decided to grab. She flipped through the pages and coughed, the dust entered her lungs before being exhaled in a forceful puff. The first book was quite good, and she couldn't wait to find out what happened in the second. So, tap, tap, tap, over to the chair she normally sat in, and with that, the opening of the book and a quiet moment thereafter.
Page five now, and she was already giggling, unaware to even think that someone might be there, watching her, ready to kill her, but if she had to die now, then it might as well be here. Dying wasn't of utmost care to her, with everyone so far gone, that she thought it'd be better in the end to join them. She wouldn't kill herself, naturally, but instead would wait until the moment happened that someone else would launch their weapon upon her and gently drain the life out of her.
But she pushed the tears aside, and they were soon forgotten in the sounds of her laughter.

Very nice profile! Approved. Just head on over to the claims section, and post a face claim and a ship claim and you should be set to go. Welcome to Exodus!
