Socioeconomic Status: Impoverished. Her parents owned and ran a small farm on Duhrma, providing for her as best as they could. Her low-class status continued on, even when a rich family from Kessep hired her as their nanny, maid, and chef.
Cultural Upbringing: The two most important things that Riary was taught as a child were to never let herself be walked on and to stand up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves, and those two things have stuck with her. Her parents worked hard on their farm in Duhrma to provide for her, since she is they're only child. As she grew, she became more an more independent, not wanting to be a burden to her parents. Her independence is most likely her most important character trait.
Physical Description:
Riary stands a nice 5'7" with a lean body from constantly being on her feet, doing something. Her raven hair and brazilian skin make her easily dismissable as a pretty face with nothing behind it, but thats far from the truth. It's in her dark eyes that you can see her determination. Secretly, Riary wishes she had been born with curly hair, and sometimes you can see a gentle wave in her dark locks, but it doesn't hold the shape very well. She takes very good care of herself.
Her clothing is always simple. Comfortable and practical is her style, especially when it comes to shoes. Riary wouldn't be caught dead in heals. They don't exactly work for a girl that never stops moving. One thing that she is never without is her messenger style bag. In her nanny/chef/maid days, it held everything she might need to have at a moments notice. It still holds a first aid kit, a knife, and a couple other things, although its chief use is has changed alot.
Personality: Since a young age, Riary has always been a very independent girl. She is very good at seeming subserviant without allowing herself to be run over. It's not so much a problem with authority, as it is a problem with abuse of power. If she's treated with respect, then she is a loyal companion and hard worker. On the other hand, treat her badly and she will make your life miserable. From behind the curtains, of course.
Riary has a very protective streak toward anyone who she feels needs it. It made her a very good care giver for her employers children, and the children on Duhrma. Again, its her problem with abuse of power. If she feels someone needs protection, she will happily take it upon herself to do so. Secretly, she felt her biological clock ticking with every day she spent watching children, although she is in no way in a hurry to tie herself to someone else.
As for her disposition, one could say its very even, and very controlled. It takes a significant amount to push her too far in either direction on the emotional scale. Stoicism is the name of the game in her head, perhaps because she feels that sharing her emotions is just another way of being dependent on someone else, as is allowing someone else to influence how you feel. When she first meets someone, she is cautious yet friendly, but first impressions are crucial with her.
History: Riary's history begins on her home planet of Duhrma. As in most families on Duhrma, her parents were farmers. They worked the land long and hard, doing everything they could to make sure that Riary was provided for. She went to a small, private school, where she rarely stood out, but never droped below average.
Once her basic schooling finished, it became apparent to the people in her community that she had a nack for child care. Not to say her intelligence was not significant, but her physical strenth was not nessicarily made for farm work, and her way with children made her stand out to the woman who provided child care to the community at the time. Hetari, the woman, allowed her to help take care of the children, training her for the day that Hetari would be to old to continue watching them.
However, as she neared her 21st birthday, her community began selling its goods to a new band of merchants. These merchants had stopped by Duhrma for a routine pick up when the leader noticed Riary with a newborn child in her arms. He was rather wealthy and had left his wife and newborn daughter behind at his home on Kessep. Something must have struck him, because he offered Riary a position as a servant in his home. On the urges of her parents, and against her better judgement, she accepted the offer and took up her position in a matter of days. A couple months after her 22nd birthday, Riary recieved word that Hetari had passed away, but no one could tell her who had taken over the child care center.
On the day of the Earthfall, the merchant, his wife, and his now 2 year old daughter were on vacation on Earth. The mother had insisted that Riary be left behind, adamant that she could "take care of her own damn child without the help of the nanny." When news of Earthfall reached her, Riary could hardly believe it. She waited a week or so, hoping that the family would return, but they didn't.
Now alone, she took to the streets, to afraid and proud to return to her home. Over the next couple weeks, Riary learned many things. Lockpicking, pickpocketing, any skill she might need to survive. One of the wallets she picked up along the way carried a paper that mentioned a ship called The Destiny, and, although she's not sure why, she just can't shake it from her mind.
RP Sample: Not my favorite, but I can't find the one I was looking for, so this is a sample from Kiera, right after David goes off on his solo mission:

"I know he'll come back..." she said, her voice not as sure as she wished it was. Her eyes had dropped back to her glass of water, sitting on the counter next to her. When Riley suggested a back massage or something, Kiera couldn't help but laugh. "You're probably right... but sort of suck at massages... The last person I gave one was practically writhing in pain... he wouldn't admit it, but he was." Kiera picked her glass up just as Riley ducked under the sink. She shook her head softly when she saw the secret. "Oh, no, I'm totally telling Raven on you," she joked, taking a sip of her water. She could hardly swallow from wanting to laugh at the look on his face as the liquor ran down his throat.
Softly, she sat the cup back down, letting her eyes drop back to her feet for a second. The smile dropped out of her face temporarily. "I.. I don't want you to feel like you did something wrong," she told him. "You were totally justified in not telling me... Look at how I reacted... I... I obviously can't handle things like this..." Holding her face even, she glanced back up at him. "I don't know how you do it. Watching people go into dangerous situations. Knowing they might not come back. Knowing you're brother..." Her words stopped abruptly as she rethought what she was about to say. Jeffery was probably still a touchy subject, just like Kaelyn was for her. Better to drop the specifics and get to her point. "I'm just saying I understand why you didn't tell me. I might not like it... but I understand." She let her eyes wander out the kitchen window.
