Marital Status: Divorced
Home World: Takatifu
Religious Beliefs: Kaden was not raised to believe in any god. In fact, the concept of a deity was foreign to him until he reached Earth. Despite that, he was not surprised that humans off planet had created a name for something he had felt connected to all his life. To him god was just another name for the spirit that connected all things.
On Takatifu he was brought up to believe that everything was connected. He was just a small part of his family, of his House, of his world. He was one individual in the community of life but it had never made him feel unimportant. Just the opposite, he had always felt comforted by the thought that he was part of something bigger than himself.
Socioeconomic Status: Kaden was born to a middleclass family on Takatifu. He never wanted for anything, mostly because he did not want much, but he did not live a life of luxury as a child.
As an adult Kaden actually married slightly higher than himself. His wife was one of the few that the Matriarch of the House Drago favored to succede her. They lived a comfortable life for a while.
When Kaden arrived on Earth he arrived with nothing besides the clothes on his back. The Safi Ambassador on earth took Kaden in and became his benefactor. He doesn't supply Kaden with much, mostly because Kaden still doesn't ask for anything he doesn't need.
Cultural Upbringing: Kaden was taught to understand and value the interdependence of any community and to take pride in taking his place in a larger system. Conformity and working for the benefit of the group were considered virtues.
But hidden within this community oriented culture there was a very strong streak of competition. Competition was highly encouraged. In fact it fed into the group minded values. To do less than your best was not just shameful, it was wrong. And to allow someone to continue to hold a position that you could do better was to put the safety and the prosperity of the entire group at risk. Young Safi had a duty to make sure that the best people filled the important positions in their lives and they were encouraged to believe those people were themselves. Those that won, whether it be a fight, a game or a debate, were honored.
And the most important thing to any Safi is their family. They lived to honor their parents and their House, to find mates and raise children who would continue on their traditions. To win was to prove yourself worthy of mates and children, of contributing your genes to the general pool.
The darker side of this was that those that lost or were somehow regarded as unworthy were treated with scorn.
Kaden has always questioned the values he was raised with to a slight degree but only recently has he had a anything that could be called a crisis of faith.
Physical Description: Kaden is somewhere between average and tall. He has a well muscled body and it has only improved since he entered the military.
His features are sleek and stern, resembling a falcon at times including his ability to stare. Lately his default expression seems to be moody and introspective. Not necessarily angry but not very approachable either.
His eyes are a light gray and his skin has a slight golden tint to it as if he had a tan. He keeps his hair cut extremely short, a style he began to favor when he joined the military.
He isn't often seen outside of uniform. Even when he has time off he finds the uniform more comfortable than any of the unfamiliar, off world styles that surround him. But occasionally he can be seen in a loosely fitting t-shirt, normally something that he got for free, or a button up dress shirt and a pair of jeans or slacks. He wears boots more often than not, but when he isn't he favors sandals of some sort, normally flip flops or goes around barefoot where it is allowed.
Personality: Kaden can be very compassionate and kind. Among his own people it was always easy for him to, not only make friends, but to inspire a love and loyalty in others that was often surprising to both of them. People got the sense from him that he was someone they could count on and he tried very hard to live up to their expectations.
Surrounded as he is now by people he does not fully understand Kaden hasn't completely lost his charm and ability to attract long term friendships. It just takes a little longer as he works through his own biases and cultural upbringing and others get used to his quiet, unassuming demeanor. A few have made the mistake of underestimating Kaden, taking quietness for shyness and weakness, but anyone who knows him well has learned better, especially if they have seen him in a cockpit or a dueling ring.
He is very loyal to those he cares for, almost too loyal. He will give people infinite chances and can be extremely forgiving of even the gravest transgressions. He often has a blind spot when it comes to seeing other's ulterior motives and can be incredible naive at times. This leaves him uniquely vulnerable to treachery and betrayal. As time went on and he gained a bit more life experience he learned to guard against it to some extent but it is still a weakness.
History: Kaden kai'Zeke was born Kaden kai'Leone to Zayna da'Leone, his mother, and Tane ka'Leone, formerly Tane kai'Kozi, his father. His parents were well suited for each other and the first six years he spent with them were happy ones. Kaden was especially close to his father and remained so throughout his life on Takatifu.
When he was 16 he passed his trial of adulthood and began visiting the cities of the other Houses as was customary for someone of his age. He would spend the summer on the road traveling with his brothers (not biological brothers but a group of unmarried young men from his House), visiting and competing in fairs. These long treks always resulted in less of them coming back than were sent out as slowly, each young Leone found a mate in another House and settled down.
During the rest of the year when Kaden was not traveling he was a guard of the Lion's Den, the city of House Leone. All young men had to serve in the Guard but they were forbidden from offensive duty. The Houses often fought amongst themselves and no one wanted a young Leone to kill someone who may end up being the brother or father of his future wife. It is highly unlikely since their aren't many marriages between warring Houses, often young people are exchanged between allies and long term friends, but the elders of all the Houses still do not allow their young Kai's to serve in offensive duty.
Kaden enjoyed his time as a guard but what he truly wanted to do was travel continuously. His summers on the road had infected him with a bit of wanderlust and so, in his spare time, Kaden began studying with his House's bioengineers. These respected women were not used to having a young man around who was interested in their craft and they made it clear that he could never advance far in the field but Kaden didn't mind. He wasn't studying to become a scientist pent up in a lab. Instead he wanted to conduct the field tests and help track the animal populations around the planet. Men's work and important work too. Generations later the Safi of Takatifu had not forgotten why their ancestors had come here and that the entire planet was a carefully managed wild life preserve.
When Kaden was 18 he met his future wife. A young woman of the House of Drago. Her choice was slightly controversial within her House. Drago did not have any long term treaty or a strong relationship with Leone, nor did they want one. Furthermore, she was a favorite of the matriarch and many felt like she would be named heir. Her first husband would be her Consort and the most powerful man in the House if she took over. They would rather it was a Grua or a Lupo, but the Matriarch herself supported the choice even if her advisors didn't and the marriage went through and he became Kaden ka'Drago.
Six years later, when Kaden was 24, the marriage was over and the details of the devorce resulted in his exile and he was stripped of his House name and affiliation. He was also forced to go through a neutering process that, while leaving him physically intact, made sure he would never spread his genes off planet.
He arrived on Earth with his clothes and the name of the Safi ambassador. Not knowing who else to seek out and confused and going through severe culture shock, he made his way to the Ambassador's apartments in the Diplomatic District in the City of Washan (Just made that up and it can totally be changed).
Ambassador Logan Kikuto took a liking to the young Safi and took him in long enough to help him figure out what he wanted to do. Kaden's base joys hadn't changed though much else in his life had. He wanted to travel. Logan informed him that his best bet would probably be the UIF fleet. It would house him for the length of his commission, he could travel, learn the language and hopefully retire with enough money to start the next portion of his life once he figured out what that would be.
Kaden thanked him for the advice and followed it, becoming a fighter pilot in the UIF military. When he joined he was asked what his last name was. For once in his life Kaden didn't have one and he was at a loss. He thought for a moment and then signed kai'Zeke.
He graduated from Flight School with honors and earned the call sign, 'Starhawk' and he took a liking to the title.

"You're right. I didn't chose you. Cassie did. And you're right, I offered you an out knowing that you wouldn't take it. What's your point exactly? Are you listening to yourself? I knew you wouldn't take that out because it's not in you to quit when people need you. But I wanted YOU to know that and you should know that about yourself by now. Furthermore, you should trust that you aren't the only one who sees it. Matt saw it. Do you think Cassie made that choice on her own? And more importantly, I see it. I see the leader you can be. So guess what, you don't get to say no now either because that is what duty means, it means you can't say no. People who don't have a sense of duty, who don't feel its call, they look at people like us and think that we're heroes for making the right choice. They don't understand that there is no choice at all. We do what we have to and we go where we're needed because we can't do anything else. We do what's right, always. And when we mess up the one's we blame most are ourselves. I see that quality in you, in me, in Matt and I saw it in Ray and it was the right thing to give him a chance to see it too and I always do the right thing right? Even if that means that you'll have your own faction one day, even if that means that you'll leave, that you might die and I won't be around to stand by you. You think I'm doing the easy thing by making you my second? Trust me, I would rather you weren't."
