General Planet Climate: Hot and arid. This is very, very little water on the planet. It has to be imported for any life to be sustained. Also, there's no oxygen. Everyone lives undergroundin shelters.
Population Levels: Sparse.
Standard of Living: Moderate. It's cramped, but when you're surrounded by gold, you can't really say you're poor.
Main Export: Gold. There is are great quantities of gold under the surface of Duette. While gold isn't quite as valuable as we would consider it today, it still holds value as a luxury metal.
Relation to the Central Government: The central government takes a lot of the gold that gets mined on Duette, which causes minor to moderate unrest among the workers. However, the workers are still fairly well compensated for their dangerous and tiring work, and are regularly paid in gold rather than credits.
Religion: Any religion can be practiced, but it had better not have anything against the love of gold.
Planetary Culture: Everything revolves around the mines and the gold. After all, why else would anyone come to a planet with no water and no oxygen? Gold is made into all sorts of decorations and it is put to every use imaginable.
Other History: No one is quite sure how the shelters came about. All anyone knows is that when the government announced that it had discovered a planet that seemed to be full of gold, the shelters weren't there. Then, the next month, when the first settlers arrived, there were some shelters, which people have been expanding ever since.
General Planet Climate: The planet is actually a moon orbiting a small gas giant. It is humid and swampy on the poles, nearly scalding oceans near the equator. The grey-green clouds are thick, but sometimes the pale blue sky still peeks through.
Population Levels: The population is quite low. Most people congregate into large farming villages on the sparse dry land.
Standard of Living: Low. The people here are mostly indentured servants to wealthy corporations. They work hard for very little.
Main Export: Raw vegetation used in processed foods. Mostly grass-like plants harvested in bulk.
Relation to the Central Government: The moon is opposed to the current government, but lacks the power to do anything about it. They have little technology that would even allow them to leave the planet.
Religion: Most of the religion on the planet has reverted to mere superstitions. On the rare occasion when a religious individual does visit the planet and tries to convert people, they don't usually pay much attention to them.
Other History: There were large pockets of dangerous swamp gasses on Mout before people moved there. Mild terraforming procedures took care of this, but there is always the danger of gas pockets returning.
General Planet Climate: Varied. This planet has many climates.
Population Levels: The planet is sparsely inhabited.
Standard of Living: The communities are small and there is not much of a difference between the well off and the poor. No one starves and no one lives a life of complete luxury.
Main Export: This planet is purposefully self sufficient. They don't accept exports from the Core planets and so don't need to offer many trade goods in return. The one thing they excel at is technological development. They don't mind taking commissions from the United Interplanetary Republic, of which they are a member and all they ask for in return is a strict enforcement of their self imposed blockade. Takatifu also has an exotic pet trade but it is limited and strictly controlled by the rulers of the houses. People do not travel to Takatifu and the inhabitants are not allowed to leave.
Relation to the Central Government: The policy of isolationism has caused problems in the past. Many see it as a violation of human rights and freedoms. Women's rights activists are especially eager to get on the planet and oversee policy change because of some of the reports they've heard on the culture. But it has always been more profitable for the Republic to maintain peaceful relations with Takatifu.
Religion: There is no religion on Takatifu. But there is a deep spirituality that is encouraged which includes a high emphasis on the honoring of one's ancestors and loyalty to one's people.
Other History: Takatifu was originally meant to be a wild life preserve. A lot of money went into terraforming the planet to resemble Earth as much as possible. There were vast DNA banks that took up whole ships in orbit around Takatifu long before it was inhabitable.
