District 9 has been shut down, and the alien refugees have been relocated
to District 10. Non-humans are no longer in slum-like conditions, but it still
hasn't gotten better. District 10 has been shaped into a concentration camp:
housing space has been reduced immensely, trigger-happy MNU security has
been doubled around the district perimeter, and food still hasn't gotten any
better.
It has been two years since Christopher, a non-human, left Earth to return
to his own dying planet. With the mothership gone, the world has gotten
quieter. The non-humans don't know why the enormous ship left or how it
could possibly help their current predicament if it ever returned. Since the
ship is long gone, non-humans have become restless and more alert to their
surroundings. Stressed and disgusted with their plight, most have lost hope
in ever being peaceful with humans and have taken drastic measures towards
MNU security. MNU guards joke that it's to keep their population under control.
Ever since one of Wikus' coworkers hacked MNU's database and publicly exposed
their illegal genetic experiments, MNU has been encumbered by media interference
for the past year. However, charges have been lifted mysteriously. MNU promised
the public that they would terminate any pending non-human experimenting. Yet,
the illegal experiments have not stopped; they've just gotten better at hiding their
company's secrets.
Non-humans are tired of their immoral treatment. And MNU makes it near
impossible to shed any positive light on the prawns; always showing the public
how dangerous and unpredictable they are, rather than showing what real good
they can do otherwise. So, the non-humans have begun to strike back... quietly,
in a manner of speaking. David Sadler is a non-human who has decided to take
action. He plans on painting MNU in an even uglier light; to bring MNU down
for good. But as he collects followers for his resistance, MNU begins to take notice,
and has begun to question non-humans of suspicious activity.
Some non-humans believe David will only make their situation worse, and believe
he should be stopped. Thus, non-humans themselves have begun to align
themselves with MNU to put a stop to David's actions. With distrust among prawns
and humans alike, only conflict will arise. But of course, some humans are just as
willing to bring MNU down as David is.
Who will you align yourself to? The brutal and uncaring MNU? Those who want to
bring down the powerful company? The choice is all yours, but while you ponder
over your decision, may I entertain you to take a look at DISTRICT 10?
